MLB Playoff Bracket 2026: Fill It Out Free, Then Run a Pool
The MLB playoff bracket has twelve teams, six from each league, with the AL on one side and the NL on the other. It plays out over eleven series in four rounds: Wild Card, Division Series, League Championship Series and World Series. The top two seeds in each league get a bye, and the path is fixed from the first pitch.
That fixed path makes the MLB postseason bracket easy to fill out and easy to turn into a group game. You can pick a World Series finalist before the playoffs begin, and the bracket underneath your pick never moves.

How the MLB playoff bracket works: seeds, byes and 11 series
Here is the structure in one table.
| Round | Teams | Length | Home games |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wild Card Series | Seeds 3v6 and 4v5, both leagues | Best-of-three | All three at the higher seed |
| Division Series | Seeds 1 and 2 enter here | Best-of-five | Higher seed |
| League Championship Series | One team per league advances | Best-of-seven | Higher seed |
| World Series | The two league champions | Best-of-seven | Better regular-season record |
That is five series per league, plus the World Series. Eleven in total.
The top two seeds in each league skip the Wild Card round entirely and go straight to the Division Series. The other four teams in that league play a best-of-three to survive it.
Does the MLB playoff bracket reseed?
No. MLB does not reseed after an upset. The bracket is fixed from the start, so the shape of it never moves.
That matters when you fill one out:
- One busted first-round pick does not invalidate the rest of your card.
- You can pick a World Series finalist before the playoffs begin.
- Every series you pick sits on a path you can see from day one.
The NFL works differently and re-seeds after every round. Baseball keeps it simple.

How to fill out an MLB playoff bracket for free
There are two free options. Neither needs a login.
Option A: the printable bracket maker. The free printable MLB playoff bracket maker loads with this season's seeding already in place. Six teams from each league, AL on one side, NL on the other. Pick a winner for every series through to the World Series, then print it.
Option B: a blank bracket. The bracket generator in the free tools builds a blank bracket for any field.
Both are solo and print options. They are good for your own picks. A pool is what makes those picks count against other people.
How to run an MLB playoff bracket pool
An MLB playoff bracket pool is a group game where everyone predicts the winner of each postseason series before the playoffs begin.
Setting it up looks like this:
- Create the pool. Start a free MLB playoff bracket pool on Trofeo.live.
- Pick your scoring.
- Set the lock time.
- Share one link. Drop it in the group chat or the office Slack.
That is the whole organizer job. Everything after that runs on its own.
What your players get
- No app. Trofeo.live is browser-based. Players tap the link and set a name to join.
- No cost to players. Players never pay. The organizer covers the pool.
- Public picks. Predictions are submitted before the action starts, and everyone can see them.
- Auto-graded results. Picks are graded against the real series as they finish.
- A live leaderboard. Scoring is in prediction points (PP), and the leaderboard settles who called it.
Bragging rights
Trofeo.live is about bragging rights, not betting. The prize is being right in front of the people who doubted you. No money is handled on the platform.
